WHAT IS NOURISH?

OzHarvest’s Nourish Program is a pathway to employment, aimed at vulnerable youth between the ages of 16 – 25 years. OzHarvest has partnered with TAFE NSW and delivers the Nourish Program with the support of volunteers, mentors and qualified industry professionals.

OzHarvest is very excited to have launched the Nourish Program in Adelaide at the beginning of 2016. This is the first time that the program has been run outside of Sydney and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share this amazing program around Australia, first stop – Adelaide, next stop – Gold Coast!

HOW DOES NOURISH WORK?

The course is designed as a stepping stone for participants into the hospitality industry. The first step in the free program is a six week introduction to hospitality course covering basic cooking skills, nutrition, food safety, kitchen hygiene, communication skills, team work skills, resume writing and surviving job interviews. After the initial 6 week course the participants are given the opportunity to continue with a Certificate II in hospitality which is a nationally recognised qualification.

OzHarvest has an ever growing list of food donors and industry contacts who are willing to provide work experience and employment opportunities for Nourish participants who successfully complete the course. The Nourish Program is FREE for participating students.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED!

There are two intakes of students for the Nourish Program each year, one in each school year semester, enrolments are open in January and July. There are a limited amount of spaces in the class and we encourage any young people who are interested in attend to register their interest so that they do not miss out. Please contact the Nourish team at OzHarvest for further information or to register your interest for the next intake.
