Australia wins ‘Best Destination’ award in India
Australia was voted the ‘Best Country’ by Travel + Leisure magazine’s Indian readers at its annual award function in New Delhi last week. The accolade further confirms Australia’s position as one of the leading holiday destinations among Indian travellers. Australia welcomed 249,000 visitors from India who spent $1.15 billion for the 12 months to September 2016.
Tourism in Australia continues breaking records
Short-term visitor arrivals during April 2017 (727,600 movements) increased 0.8% compared with March 2017 (722,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.7% in February 2017 and March 2017.
The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.7% higher than in April 2016. During April 2017, short-term visitor arrivals (746,700 movements) increased 4.7% compared with March 2017 (712,900 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.2% in February 2017 followed by a monthly decrease of 0.4% in March 2017.
There were 701,300 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in April 2017.
