Australian tourism continues to shine...passenger numbers are up
Short-term visitor arrivals during October 2016 (709,300 movements) increased 0.6%, compared with September 2016 (705,100 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.8% in August 2016 and 0.7% in September 2016.
The current trend estimate for arrivals is 11.1% higher than in October 2015. During October 2016, short-term visitor arrivals (713,300 movements) increased 0.3% compared with September 2016 (710,900 movements).
This followed a monthly decrease of 0.1% in August 2016 and a monthly increase of 2.7% in September 2016. There were 694,300 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in October 2016.

QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network
The QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network, supported by The Star Entertainment Group, aims to support tourism employers to recruit and retain Indigenous employees. The Network is a group of volunteer tourism operators that have exhibited best practice in the recruitment and retention of Indigenous employment.
Together with the Champions, QTIC have developed a range of resources for tourism operators, presented at numerous industry conferences, facilitated industry forums, provided tourism industry career path information to Indigenous students and job seekers, and identified Indigenous employment placements within the industry.
