Inter Schools Culinary Challenge





The Challenge


HTN is seeking Year 11 and 12 Hospitality students from local High Schools to participate in the 2016 HTN Inter Schools Culinary Challenge. Please complete the attached Registration Form and Fax to 1300 656 139 or email to mina@htn.com.au

HTN would like to provide a special thank you to Hunter TAFE NSW and Sydney TAFE for providing their support during this culinary challenge which goes beyond simply providing equipment, but includes, logistic support, staff and facilities support to mention just a few.



The purpose of the Competition







The well publicised skills shortages in the commercial cookery sector highlight the need to promote the career of a professional chef as one without limits. Further, HTN actively markets the benefits of Australian Apprenticeships to meet their demand average of one hundred plus cooking apprenticeship vacancies listed all year round.

The Concept


High Schools offering Hospitality as a VET subject for years 11 and 12 students are invited to enter one team of two students to represent them at the 2016 HTN Inter Schools Culinary Challenge. Please note that HTN, at our discretion, may invite additional students from competing schools to participate in a challenge on the same day to ensure optimum numbers. Up to 30 local students will have the opportunity to showcase their culinary talent by competing against other passionate local hospitality students for great industry prizes.

Leading local chefs will demonstrate a restaurant quality dish for competing teams to reproduce within a given time frame which will then be professionally judged according to technique, presentation and taste. Media interest is expected to be high for this event.







Prizes


High Schools offering Hospitality as a VET subject for years 11 and 12 students are invited to enter one team of two students to represent them at the 2016 HTN Inter Schools Culinary Challenge.

Each competitor will receive a participation pack with sponsor and industry information.  The top three performing teams (based on highest points scored) will be awarded prizes as follows:
1st:  The team that is awarded the highest points score will each win a prize pack that includes a selection of books and a $200 Fraser and Hughes gift voucher.

2nd: The team that is awarded the second highest points score will each win a prize pack that includes a selection of books and a $150 Fraser and Hughes gift voucher.

3rd: The team that is awarded the third highest points score will each win a prize pack that includes a selection of books and a $100 Fraser and Hughes gift voucher.
