If you savour fine cuisine and coffee, love organising events or simply enjoy the feeling of walking into an outstanding hotel – a career in tourism and hospitality is for you.


Tourism and hospitality is a leading export market with a range of businesses and jobs for a rewarding career. You might train to be a chef, waiter or bartender of a restaurant; manage a five star hotel; plan and organise events; or join a tour or travel agency and see the world.

In the next five years alone the industry is expected to create 43,900 jobs nationwide and will grow to 1.5 million jobs by 2022 with many opportunities for casual and part-time work as well as full-time jobs.

Entering tourism, travel, events management or hospitality gives you a career that really is 'on the go'. You can work all across Australia or take a leap and move your career overseas. You have a qualification that allows you to roam the world, and work with people from all walks of life.

On average hospitality workers can expect to earn $900 per week, tour guides from $800 and tourism management positions from $1,200.
