In response to the growing demand globally for food and wine as part of the travel experience, Tourism Australia’s There’s Nothing Like Australia campaign put the spotlight on Australia’s finest array of produce served in the most stunning locations in the world. Since the start of Restaurant Australia (Dec 13), food and wine spend has grown over $1 billion ($1.03 billion or 24.6 per cent). Food and wine now accounts for one in five dollars spent by international tourists in Australia.
As interest continues to grow in Australia’s vibrant culinary scene thanks to our Restaurant Australia campaign, creative businesses around the country are finding new ways to tap into this exciting opportunity. Here are some fantastic examples - watch here
QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network
The QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network, supported by The Star Entertainment Group, aims to support tourism employers to recruit and retain Indigenous employees. The Network is a group of volunteer tourism operators that have exhibited best practice in the recruitment and retention of Indigenous employment.
Together with the Champions, QTIC have developed a range of resources for tourism operators, presented at numerous industry conferences, facilitated industry forums, provided tourism industry career path information to Indigenous students and job seekers, and identified Indigenous employment placements within the industry.
