Tourism Australian (Maggie White) Students & Graduates Program

Tourism Australia believe in developing talent. The Tourism Australia (Maggie White) Students and Graduates Program gives Australian university students and graduates who are passionate about tourism and Australia the opportunity to gain valuable insights and skills in the tourism and marketing sector, working within various business units of Tourism Australia’s Sydney office.

The program is named after Maggie White – one of Australian tourism’s most passionate advocates who sadly passed away in June 2015. Maggie was a much loved member of the travel industry and the Tourism Australia family, having worked with Tourism Australia and its forerunner, the Australian Tourist Commission (ATC), for close to 25 years.

Eligibility criteria

Students and graduates wishing to apply to take part in the program must be:

  • Australian residents; and

  • Enrolled in an Australian university and in the second or third year of their relevant degree, or with a degree qualification from an Australian university.

Find out more about the program. You can also read the program FAQs for more information.

Read about Stephanie Denman's intern experience at Tourism Australia

Stephanie interned at Tourism Australia in 2014 as part of the Students and Graduates Program.

Name: Stephanie Denman

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Public Relations) combined with Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.

University: University of Technology, Sydney (UTS)

Semester: Spring semester, final year.

Business Unit: Global Public Relations and Corporate Communications

I first spotted the Student and Graduates Program at Tourism Australia on their website after clicking around government websites looking for graduate jobs. I've always been interested in international relations and communicating across cultures, and I realised that Tourism Australia was a perfect fit with my professional interests and my background in Public Relations. And here I am now! I get to talk about delicious food and wine, 29 year old virgin wombats and inspiring indigenous experiences every day at the office.
