World-first partnership with BuzzFeed to target youth travellers
Tourism Australia and BuzzFeed Australia are on the hunt for the next generation of visual storytellers from around the world to join the first ever BuzzFeed Mateship program, a once-in-lifetime fellowship and travel program that will see the Mates work, travel and capture content across Australia. Eight young travellers and aspiring content creators from the UK, Germany, Italy and France will be flown to Australia for a three-month road trip to discover and report on some of the most unique, eye-opening and breathtaking experiences across the country for both Tourism Australia and BuzzFeed.com social channels.
“These eight-lucky young travellers have a life-changing trip ahead of them and one which we believe will motivate many more young international travellers to follow in their footsteps,” said Australia's Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, the Hon Steven Ciobo MP.
ICC Sydney showcase
Tourism Australia has partnered with ICC Sydney to develop a new Virtual Reality showcase video giving international audiences a virtual tour through the venue.
QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network
The QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network, supported by The Star Entertainment Group, aims to support tourism employers to recruit and retain Indigenous employees. The Network is a group of volunteer tourism operators that have exhibited best practice in the recruitment and retention of Indigenous employment.
Together with the Champions, QTIC have developed a range of resources for tourism operators, presented at numerous industry conferences, facilitated industry forums, provided tourism industry career path information to Indigenous students and job seekers, and identified Indigenous employment placements within the industry.

Tourism Australia and Qantas have kicked off a new joint marketing campaign in Japan to promote the airline’s new service between Kansai (Osaka) and Sydney commencing on 14 December as well as their existing services between Tokyo and Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Visitor Arrivals still climbing
Short-term visitor arrivals during September 2017 (752,500 movements) increased 0.4% compared with August 2017 (749,700 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.6% in July 2017 and 0.5% in August 2017.
