World’s best sommeliers to visit Restaurant Australia
Wine Australia is inviting the best sommeliers in the world to discover Australia’s incredible wine offering as part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017, being held in Melbourne in April. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants have partnered with Tourism Australia to bring the renowned event Down Under where world-leading chefs, restaurateurs, media and influencers will gather to celebrate the very best in global gastronomy.
The overall event program and awards will showcase Australia’s outstanding food and wine culture to an international audience of industry professionals and food lovers.
Funding open for Rural and Regional Events in NSW
Event organisers are being encouraged to apply for grants under the NSW Government’s 2018 Flagship Event Fund, with expressions of interest now open.
International visitors to Australia - latest statistics
Australia welcomed 8.5 million international visitors in the 12 months to June 2017, up 8.9 per cent, according to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released yesterday.
QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network
The QTIC Tourism Indigenous Employment Champions Network, supported by The Star Entertainment Group, aims to support tourism employers to recruit and retain Indigenous employees. The Network is a group of volunteer tourism operators that have exhibited best practice in the recruitment and retention of Indigenous employment.
Together with the Champions, QTIC have developed a range of resources for tourism operators, presented at numerous industry conferences, facilitated industry forums, provided tourism industry career path information to Indigenous students and job seekers, and identified Indigenous employment placements within the industry.
