HTN Youth Skills Showcase

Hospitality Training Network (HTN) are now the largest group employer of Apprentice Chefs and Apprentice Butchers nationwide with presence in Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra.

The HTN Youth Skills Showcase took place on 26th September 2017 where the winners of two prestigious Scholarships were announced; The Australian Association of Food Professionals Margaret Fulton Scholarship as well as The Peter Howard Culinary Scholarship. The scholarships provide the next generation of culinary professionals with a unique opportunity to develop their skills in order to enjoy professional and personal successes.

HTN’s Patron Peter Howard announced the winner of the Scholarship exclusive to HTN apprentices (named in his honour).

The Australian Association of Food Professionals Margaret Fulton Scholarship
Congratulations to the winner: Tara Lockwood – Southern Cross Catholic Vocational College

Tara receives a paid one-week culinary experience interstate as well as $1,000, uniforms and a knife kit.

The HTN Peter Howard Culinary Scholarship
Congratulations to the winner: HTN apprentice Chef Mikaila Mikulic – Hosted at Campbelltown Catholic Club

Mikaila receives $5,000 cash and flights to either the UK or Asia (with thanks to Tourism Hospitality Catering Institute) to enhance her culinary career.

The event turned out to be a huge success with over 100 industry leaders that attended.

Futura Group, Krio Krush, Fraser & Hughes, Sandhurst Fine Foods, Game Farm, Australian Pork, Rivalea Australian Pork, Fonterra Food Services, HostPLUS, MEGT Australian Apprenticeships and TAFE NSW have generously supported HTN as sponsors of this initiative, ensuring that the commercial cookery sector’s future is assured.

HTN is a not for profit, group training organisation established by industry, for industryto employ hospitality apprentices and trainees and thus return to the industry highly qualified skilled technicians for the future.   HTN now employs hundreds of apprentice chefs and hospitality trainees throughout NSW and the ACT and is the leading hospitality specific group employer in Australia. We are proud to have employed, supported and mentored in excess of 12,000 apprentices to date.
