William Angliss cooking up a storm in China
William Angliss Institute and the Tourism College of Zhejiang have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form the Sino-Australia International Hotel Management School offering quality education to help develop a highly-skilled tourism workforce in China.
The five-year Memorandum of Understanding identifies areas for collaboration including joint program design and delivery as well as resource development for blended learning delivery. The partners will collaborate regarding customized industry and enterprise training, consulting services, professional development for government officials, and co-hosting of international conferences between China and Victoria.
The Sino-Australia International Hotel Management School will use Australia’s world-class vocational education and training expertise from William Angliss Institute and build on the existing collaboration between Australia and China to further strengthen China’s vocational education and training sector.
Mr Hunt said, “This joint venture will cultivate a skilled workforce with the ability to practise tourism, hotel and resort management and marketing, and to manage the internationalisation of tourism.”
“The Tourism College of Zhejiang and William Angliss Institute have a shared strategic vision for international tourism education and have identified new opportunities to collaborate in delivering training in these fields,” he said.
Courses to be offered include Advanced Diploma of Hospitality, Advanced Diploma of Travel & Tourism and the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality incorporating the Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
The Tourism College of Zhejiang has been operating for more than 30 years. It is the main vocational college for the Province of Zhejiang dedicated to education and training for the food, tourism and hospitality industries, in a similar style to William Angliss Institute. It is administered by the local Provincial Tourism Administration and has strong links with industry.
William Angliss Institute has been delivering training in China since 2002 and first signed a co-operative program arrangement with the Tourism College of Zhejiang in 2006. Over the past ten years, the program has been recognised by both the students, parents and industry as an outstanding international program which enables graduates to achieve excellent employment outcomes. As of June 2016, 840 students have successfully graduated and enrolment for 2016 is expected to be around 380 students.
